“Give me ten thousand Filipino soldiers
– General Douglas MacArthur
and I will conquer the world.”
Tayong mga Pilipino ay kilala sa katapangan at lakas ng loob sa harap ng pagsubok lalo na para sa kapakanan ng pamilya o tungo sa hangaring ating pinahahalagahan.
Our desire for freedom from poverty, oppression and violence deserves all our courage, hard work and persistence — traits Filipinos are known for.
In this 78th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an event that dragged the Philippines into World War II, Winnipeg Pinoy commemorates the valor of Filipinos who continued the guerrilla fight for freedom against Japanese occupation.
Even without General Douglas MacArthur and the American military, Filipino resistance units throughout the country effectively held back the Japanese occupation forces. Only 12 provinces were ever under Japanese control.
