that June 19, 2016 was the 155th birth anniversary of the Philippine National Hero, DR. JOSE PROTACIO RIZAL, who was born in June 19, 1861 in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines?
It was celebrated here in Winnipeg, Manitoba with a Father’s Day Breakfast Fundraiser at Pampanga’s Restaurant from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. The event was followed by wreath laying at Dr. Jose Rizal Park (92 Sewa Crescent, just off Jose Rizal Way in Northwest Winnipeg). The funds raised will be used in the Knights of Rizal Winnipeg Chapter’s projects that centered in education: the Youth Recognition Awards Scholarship and the Dr. Jose Rizal Room project at the Sir William Stephenson Library. Both are in accordance with Rizal’s teaching of valuing education and developing youth potential.
