Entrepreneurship in the Filipino Community in Winnipeg, Manitoba is alive and growing.
The First General Assembly of 204 FM was a phenomenal success. We already knew from the looks of the parking lot when we arrived within the first hour of the event (published as 12 to 5PM) that the PCCM venue would overflow. Indeed, around halfway through the event, the organizers’ attention was called due to safety concerns as the venue could only accommodate 400 people. As with anything done for the first time, there were minor issues but none that could put down the spirit of entrepreneurship, camaraderie and community.
First that calls attention is the healthy sampling of food that our Filipino entrepreneurs offer. The rest of offerings ranged from party favors to car and real estate-related businesses. These are the favorite businesses that Pinoys go into, the demands of which in the Winnipeg Filipino community is without question high and will continue to grow as the local Filipino community grows.
204 FM is an embodiment of the growing Filipino community envisioned in Why Winnipeg Pinoy? We salute the organizers and participants for the time, effort and resources invested in a worthwhile project. Carry on 204 FM and keep the momentum going.
P.S. A follow up 204 FM Pinoy Christmas Bazaar is happening tonight, 6 to 9PM at the North Centennial Recreation Facility, 90 Sinclair St, Winnipeg, MB. It’ll be a Filipino style food and flea market. Do your Christmas shopping there tonight.
